Port Vale win promotion 2013
Spearheaded by top-scorer and fan Tom Pope, Micky Adams’ Port Vale side secure promotion to the third flight after a brilliant, against the odds campaign. The side overcame the club being in administration in the summer to gel on the pitch and move out of League Two. The images include the memorable final home game of the season against Northampton Town where promotion was all but assured and the final game at Wycombe where fans, players and officials celebrated the club’s promotion.
Some of the highlights of the season include Tom Pope netting four against his former club in a 6-2 thrashing of Steve Evans’ Rotherham United side, a memorable 7-1 win over Burton Albion in front of one of the biggest home crowds in years and a home game against Bristol Rovers which finally saw the Roy Sproson statue unveiled.
