Neil Aspin praises Cristian Montano’s performance at left-back
Manager Neil Aspin said that Cristian Montano “acquitted himself well” at left-back during the 3-2 defeat to Swindon Town.
Montano scored against Town after his surprise selection in the defence.
He trained at left back and has done well, but it is all right doing it in training, you have to do it in the game in the first team, and I thought he acquitted himself well…
Aspin told the media: “I must give some praise to Cristian Montano because he is not everybody’s favourite player at the club and I think he does suffer at times. He probably lacks a little bit of confidence but there is a good player in there.
“He trained at left back and has done well, but it is all right doing it in training, you have to do it in the game in the first team, and I thought he acquitted himself well.
“You would have to say there were a lot of question marks against Cristian defensively, but I have seen enough of him in training to feel he can cope with that and he obviously gives you more options going forward.”
