Football League clubs to vote on summer transfer window change
Football League clubs are set to vote on changes to the summer transfer window on Thursday.
Representatives of all 72 Football League clubs meet at Aston Villa’s Villa Park for a meeting where the topic of discussion will be a change to the deadline of the summer transfer window.
The suggestion is that the window will close at 5pm on Thursday August 9th with the loan window then remaining open until August 31st.
If the proposal passes, it will bring the Football League window into line with the Premier League transfer window, as the Premier League voted in September to close the window early.
The Premier League window will now close two days before the opening kick off of a new campaign, whilst the – if passed – Football League window would shut following the opening round of fixtures.
The meeting will be attended by chief executives, chairman and club officials.
