Ricky Miller player profile:
Former Dover Athletic striker Ricky Miller was targeted by Port Vale manager Neil Aspin in January 2018. However, the Port Vale boss had to wait till June to land his man.
The controversial forward was signed two-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Peterborough United.
He scored his first goal for the club in the opening game of the 2018-19 season – a 3-1 home win over Cambridge United – but after that he had a season of peaks and troughs.
He scored goals in two Checkatrade games for the club but was out of contention by November after a lengthy league goal drought with manager Neil Aspin saying he “has to do better.” However, after an injury to top-scorer Tom Pope the striker finally returned to the Port Vale first eleven in March and bounced back with a double strike against Mansfield Town.
However, when Pope returned from injury, Miller dropped out of contention once again. At the end of the season the club announced that Miller’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent.
