Four arrested during Port Vale game with Bolton
Four fans – two from each side – were arrested following a series of pitch invasions that disrupted Port Vale’s game against Bolton.
A police helicopter took part in operations during the game while a fifth fan was removed from the match.
Fortunately, there was no further trouble after the game but prior to kick-off, a flare set off on a coach caused an estimated £2,000 of damage.
A police spokesman told the Sentinel newspaper after the game: “Although there was some unrest during the game, we are happy that our police presence managed to ensure events before and after went relatively smoothly.
“A continued police presence after the match prevented any incidents of note and we believe they have now all dispersed peacefully.”
