Michael Brown: the boys were excellent
Interim Port Vale manager Michael Brown praised his side after the 1-1 away draw with Southend United.
Brown told the media: “It was a great away performance. Things weren’t going our way with injuries and things which has been typical of late.
I thought the boys were excellent; they were patient and dogged and I thought they defended well…
“But again we took the challenge full on against a good Southend team who have been going ever so well. I thought the boys were excellent; they were patient and dogged and I thought they defended well.”
“To take the lead with a Chris Eagles goal with his head… we were here the day it happened! He got a bit of stick in the dressing room.
“We lost JT and Danny Pugh so that is disappointing, but it was a fantastic away performance and we nearly got the three points.”
