After a great start to the season, OVF takes a look at a collection of Vale’s most important (and best) goals from the season so far.

These goals bode well for the season to come. It certainly looks like Vale fans, fantasy football managers, and football betting enthusiasts should enjoy the rest of the season. Here are five influential goals from the Valiants this season:

Port Vale vs Scunthorpe United

27th August 2016 at Vale Park

The first goal of a great performance against Scunthorpe United was scored by Anton Forrester (1 minute 33 seconds into the video). After a foul by Scunthorpe United’s Duane Holmes, Anthony Grant takes a free kick, and a couple of seconds later, Sam Foley takes over the ball. His assist sets up Anton Forrester for a great finish into the top right corner.

Port Vale vs Rochdale

16th August 2016 at Vale Park.

The only goal of the match was scored by a young Port Vale youth team graduate Nathan Smith, in the 52nd minute. It was his first senior goal for the club. The defender was assisted by Sam Foley as his header ultimately proved too much for the Rochdale goalkeeper Josh Lillis. Smith has already proved to have great potential, and we will probably see him perform and score other amazing goals like this one. The game ended in a 1-0 victory for Vale.

The second goal of the game was scored by Alex Jones in the second-half and he was assisted by great work from veteran winger Jerome Thomas. Jones volleyed his first senior goal for the club into the net and was to add a third goal in the 84th minute for good measure. The final result was 3-1 to the Valiants.

Port Vale vs Southend United

13th August 2016 at Vale Park

After a couple of attempts had been missed by JJ Hooper, newcomer Anton Forrester scored a great goal in the 40th minute. It was the striker’s first-ever goal for the club since joining the club in the summer.

Another great goal mainly because of its simplicity, was Remie Streete’s 75th minute strike. Streete scored his first-ever senior goal with a right-footed shot to the bottom-left corner. He was assisted by Anton Forrester and the goal helped secure another valuable home victory this season for the Valiants.

Hopefully there will be many more great games and amazing goals to come for Vale during the rest of the season.
