Ribeiro praises two-goal Alex Jones and hints at future 4-4-2
Manager Bruno Ribeiro praised striker Alex Jones who scored twice on his full debut.
The Vale boss commented on the on loan Birmingham forward saying: “The players need a few weeks to see our work; they can’t come straight in and play. He has come in and had two weeks here to work with us and he was fantastic.
“He scored two goals and worked hard. He is a striker who played winger, but during the week I said to him ‘I think next game I will play you as a winger and you will score a goal.’
“He is one more option for a winger.”
Ribeiro also thinks the signing of Martin Paterson will allow Vale to switch formations in the future. He said: “Paterson is a good solution for us with two strikers and now maybe in a few weeks we will start to play with two strikers. But now we work 4-3-3. I am very happy with that but I need 4-4-2 because that is a good solution in some games.”
