Smurthwaite reveals Northampton bid for Grant
Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite has criticised Northampton Town’s bid for midfielder Anthony Grant.
“I don’t think it’s appropriate but I think his agent has been hawking him around the whole of the Football League considering some of the calls I’ve been receiving,” Smurthwaite told Radio Stoke tonight.
“Northampton put an offer in with Rob Page which is pathetic… it wasn’t enough to fuel my car for a year.
“His agent is brave because he’s only got six weeks to find him another club because the rules have changed. If he doesn’t get it sorted he will be playing with us until Christmas.”
