Rumour: Northampton baulk at Vale’s “inflated” Grant price
The Northampton Chronicle says that Northampton Town have made an enquiry about Port Vale’s Anthony Grant but are now unlikely to continue their interest.
On Tuesday, Port Vale manager Norman Smurthwaite claimed he had turned down a “derisory” offer from Northampton for the player.
Northampton’s manager is former Vale boss Rob Page who will be well aware of Grant’s qualities. The midfielder was the club’s player of the year under Page.
The Chronicle says that Northampton Town are refusing to comment on the Grant situation, but the newspaper understands that an enquiry was made about the player, but that they are not willing to meet Port Vale’s inflated valuation.
