Rumour: Journalist claims Anthony Grant has made transfer request

An unsubstantiated claim from a journalist says that last season’s player of the year, Anthony Grant, has handed in a transfer request.

The claim came via a tweet from freelance journalist Pete O’Rourke and the claim has not been confirmed by either the local press or the football club.

If Grant has handed in a request it would be a huge blow to the Vale as the midfielder enjoyed an excellent first season at the club and his experience and lower league knowledge would be seen as vital in a Vale squad largely unused to League One football.

However, any claim has to be taken with a large pinch of salt until there is a response from either the player or the football club.
