Sentinel: Gateshead want to take Vale keeper on loan
The Sentinel claim that goalkeeper Sam Johnson could be set for a season-long loan at Gateshead.
Gateshead, managed by Vale legend Neil Aspin, apparently agreed a deal with former Vale manager Rob Page.
Johnson was a somewhat surprising name on the Vale retained list. The Valiants had already released senior keeper Chris Neal due to the form of Jak Alnwick and with Alnwick, Ryan Boot and youngster Harry Pickering under contract many fans wondered why the club needed a fourth.
However, Johnson enjoyed a successful loan spell with FC Halifax which included lifting the FA Trophy and Vale clearly think the youngster has potential.
