Albert Pearson player profile:
Albert Pearson was a centre forward who joined then non-league Port Vale FC from Sheffield United in 1914 on the eve of World War One. He was a first-team regular until the war intervened and football games were suspended.
He returned to the club after the war ended and was then sold to Liverpool in 1919. However, he fell out of favour at Anfield in 1921 and he returned to Port Vale for a brief second spell.
Playing in the Second Division he made twenty appearances for the Vale, scoring once. It was his only League goal for the Valiants. However, he picked up an injury in 1922 and was then released at the end of the season. He later had spells with both Rochdale and Stockport County before moving into non-league football.
His son-in-law, George Heppell, and great-great-grandson, Tom Conlon, also played for Port Vale FC.
