Port Vale Rumour Mill: Non-League defender linked?
A popular Twitter account has linked Port Vale with the signing of a non-league defender.
A tweet claims that Port Vale could be signing Aldershot Town defender Omar Beckles. Here is the tweet:
Aldershot Town defender Omar Beckles looks set to sign for Port Vale, Portsmouth and Bradford also interested #atfc #pvfc #bcfc #pup #pompey

Beckles is a 23 year-old central defender who was signed from St Albans in 2014. He can play at centre-back, right-back and in midfield. He has made 27 appearances for the Shots this season.
There could well be no truth in the story but if Vale were interested in Beckles it would almost certainly be with an eye to the future. Experienced trio Carl Dickinson, Ryan McGivern and Richard Duffy are all out of contract in the summer and Vale’s budget restraints would put a question mark on whether they would be at the club next season.
