Manager Rob Page has hailed “talented” AJ Leitch-Smith and called the striker a “massive part” of his long-term plans.
Page came under criticism from some fans when he signed the striker in the summer after Leitch-Smith’s less than prolific spell for Yeovil.
However, the striker has been in good form this season and recently signalled his intention to stay. Page commented: “It’s great to hear because he has been a breath of fresh air since he has come in. We always knew, on paper, that he is a talented footballer. We recognised that in pre-season and thankfully got him tied down.
“So, there will be conversations had no doubt and it is fantastic he got the goal.
“In the summer I had an opportunity to put my own stamp on things and the players that I wanted to bring in. Ajay certainly comes into that category so is a massive part of my plans long term with what I want for the club.”
