Nathan Smith: Torquay loan spell is “really helping” me
Defender Nathan Smith says he is enjoying the challenge of first-team football and feels he has given a “good account” of himself.
Smith has been an ever-present with Torquay all season and his loan has now been extended until the end of the campaign.
In an interview with the official Torquay United website, Smith, described as “one of the real plus-points of the campaign so far” commented: “I am very pleased to be staying here for the rest of the season. I am really enjoying my football and playing week in, week out is a big thing for me.
I am really enjoying my football and playing week in, week out is a big thing for me…
“It’s a tough League and just as competitive as I expected it to be when I first arrived, but I feel that I have settled into it well and given a good account of myself so far.
“As I say, I was anticipating a battle and it’s certainly been that, but it is really helping with my overall development as a player.
“There’s a good spirit here and a real focus and determination to do well. The Gaffer has come in and a lot has changed for the better; everything is much more game-related now and he works closely with each part of the team.
“It means that everyone knows exactly what their role is and what is expected of them. He’s also very approachable, which is also very important.”
