Les Stephenson player profile:

Striker Les Stephenson was signed from Blackpool by Port Vale for a £5,000 fee in March 1955.

He was then the club’s top scorer at the end of the 1955-56 season with 14 goals. However, he lost his place in January 1957 when manager Freddie Steele left the club to be replaced by Norman Low.

In June 1957, following Vale’s relegation, Stephenson was transferred to Oldham Athletic for £1,065. He had a later spell with Witton Albion.
