Smurthwaite: Striker signings depend on season ticket sales
Chairman Norman Smurthwaite has been interviewed by BBC Radio Stoke about the playing budget for the next season.
Smurthwaite says he is confident of securing Ryan Inniss on loan, that Michael O’Connor is set to formally sign his contract imminently but that manager Rob Page has “spent” the current budget and “we haven’t got the squad that I believe we need”.
However, if the club reaches its target of 3,300 season ticket sales then Fair Play rules would allow Smurthwaite to add enough funds to strengthen the side’s frontline with the Vale owner adding “if we get 3,300 I will be looking for two seasonal goalscorers.”
