Wayne Corden player profile:
Wayne Corden was a skillful, locally born left-winger who progressed through the Port Vale FC junior ranks to sign a professional contract in 1994. He went on to make his Port Vale senior debut in 1995 coming on a sub against Notts County.
When Steve Guppy left to join Leicester, Corden and Dutchman Rogier Koordes competed for the left-wing position. However, Corden never cemented a regular place in the side although he did score a memorable FA Cup goal against Arsenal in 1998.
He was released by the Valiants in the summer of 2000 and subsequently played for Mansfield Town, Scunthorpe United and Leyton Orient (plus loan spells at Chester and Notts County) before playing for a number of non-league sides. He finally retired from playing in 2012.
