Tony Lacey player profile:
Full-back Tony Lacey was initially signed on loan from neighbours Stoke City in 1970 before the move was made permanent in April for a fee of £2,500.
Lacey played the remainder of the 1969-70 season as the Valiants were promoted under manager Gordon Lee
The defender continued to be a regular selection in the Port Vale side for five years until he was given a free transfer to Rochdale in 1975.
After his playing career ended, he later became a well-respected coach and also managed Stoke City for a brief spell.
