O’Connor ‘enjoying’ Vale spell but unsure of future
Influential midfielder Michael O’Connor says he is “enjoying” his time at Vale Park but is “not sure” of his future.
O’Connor has been in good form this season and is contention for the player of the year award. However, Vale had to stretch their budget to bring the midfielder in and after his good form, other clubs may be keen on the Northern Ireland International.
So, while it wouldn’t be entirely unexpected if O’Connor did move on if the club did manage to persuade him to stay it would be a huge coup for the Valiants.
I am enjoying myself here and the fans have been great with me so hopefully we can sit down and knock something out…
Despite a lengthy commute (something the OVF editor can sympathise with) O’Connor has expressed himself happy with his spell at the club.
He told the Sentinel he was unsure where his future lies commenting: “I don’t know yet. I am going to finish this season as strongly as I can and I am enjoying my time here.
“The only thing that is killing me at the moment is the travelling, but I have got through it and Pagey has helped me the whole way through this season.
“He has given me days off and recovery time. I am enjoying myself here and the fans have been great with me so hopefully we can sit down and knock something out.
“I think this is the most games I have played in one season. I love playing under Pagey and it is a great dressing room, one of the best I have been in.
“Hopefully we can sit down and Smurf can dig into his pocket and sort something out! I am only joking but I am just enjoying myself at the minute.”
