Neil Brisco player profile:
Powerful midfielder Neil Brisco signed for Port Vale on a free transfer from Manchester City in 1998 and made a memorable debut in a televised FA Cup tie against Liverpool.
His spell in Burslem was often hit by injuries but when fit he was generally picked in a ball-winning role in midfield.
He agreed a move to Stockport County in 2004 but failed a medical and stayed with the Valiants. He was duly offered a new contract but Brisco turned it down in order to join Rochdale. He had spent six years with the Vale and made a hundred and thirty five appearances for the club.
He later moved into the non-league with spells at Barrow, Scarborough, Mossley and Chorley among others. He finished his playing career with over a hundred and fifty appearances in the Football League, the majority of them for the Valiants.
