A long-serving goalkeeper of the 1970’s, he moved to Port Vale from Sheffield United in 1974 and replaced Alan Boswell as the first-choice keeper.

He was voted the club’s player of the year in 1975.

He eventually lost his place to an emerging Trevor Dance and left to join Altrincham in 1980.
