Time at club: 1923-1933
The locally-born left-back was regarded as the best full-back to be uncapped by England. He turned professional in 1923 and was renowned for his “clean play.” He helped the Valiants to the Third Division title in 1929-30.
He was reluctantly sold to Charlton Athletic in 1933 by the cash-strapped Valiants.
