Craig Rocastle player profile:
Craig Rocastle was an experienced midfielder who was signed by Port Vale manager Martin Foyle on a two-year deal after his release from Oldham Athletic.
Rocastle began his career at QPR before moving into the non-league where he was signed by Chelsea. He had played for a number of clubs before the Valiants including stays at Sheffield Wednesday and Hibernian.
He was a regular pick in the Port Vale midfield at the start of the season and he opened his scoring account with a goal against Cheltenham Town. However, he faded out of the first-team picture as the season progressed and he was allowed to go on loan to Gillingham.
After Lee Sinnott replaced Foyle as manager, talks with Rocastle resulted in the player’s contract being bought up and he left the club.
Following his exit from Vale Park, Rocastle continued to have a journeyman career with spells at eight more clubs including sides in the USA and Greece.
