Alan Woolfall player profile
Alan Woolfall was a striker who had begun his career in non-league football with Skelmersdale United before being signed by Bury in 1974.
After five years with Bury during which he had scored fourteen goals in sixty eight games, he was signed by Port Vale FC manager Dennis Butler in August 1979.
Woolfall enjoyed an impressive start as he scored on both his League and Cup debuts but despite those goals he found his chances in the first-team to be limited. He finished with three goals in ten games in the 1979-80 season but netted just once in eleven games in the 1980-81 season.
He was given a free transfer by new Vale manager John McGrath in May 1981 and moved on to non-league Marine. His Port Vale career tally was four goals in twenty one appearances.
