Adams aims for two new signings
The Sentinel claims that Micky Adams is attempting to bring in two new attacking players into the club.
Adams is well known to be targeting a Championship striker on loan – Blackburn’s Jordan Slew and Huddersfield’s Martin Paterson have both been linked. The club have indicated that a move may take place before Saturday’s game against Chesterfield.
However, the Sentinel also suggests that the club may pay a fee for a “French forward” currently playing in Norway. This move may take longer because of International clearance.
OVF research has shown that former Blackpool and Middlesbrough midfielder Malaury Martin is playing in the Norwegian Premier League for Sandnes Ulf. Martin is contracted until 2015 and would therefore require a fee if he were to move. 26 year-old Martin is a free-kick expert who has been capped by France at junior levels.
Vale’s French connection…
The first French player to appear in a Vale first-team was the extravagantly named defender Stephane Pounewatchy (right). A defensive crisis saw John Rudge sign the former Carlisle defender on loan from Dundee in September 1999. He played just two games before the loan was ended.
Vale’s only other French player also appeared in the same season as Pounewatchy. Striker Christophe Horlaville made just one start for the club, but one of his two sub appearances was against Liverpool in the League Cup!
Will this potential new signing make it a hat-trick of Frenchman to play for the Valiants?
