Preston North End have confirmed the signing of Vale striker Jordan Hugill for an undisclosed compensation fee.
Hugill has signed a two-year deal after rejecting Vale’s contract offer.
However, as the player is under 24, North End have had to pay compensation.
Vale were rumoured to be targeting defender Paul Huntington as part of the deal but that move now appears to be unlikely.
The loss of Hugill will be a bitter disappointment to the Valiants with many fans expecting more loyalty from a player that was signed from non-league and whom Vale developed into a promising, albeit raw, League One prospect.
