CEO ‘pledges support’ to manager and players
Norman Smurthwaite has tweeted that he will “pledge his support to MA his support staff & players” after the team came in for some criticism following their run of poor form.
Vale have picked up just one point from their last four games, leaving the club in danger of losing their automatic promotion spot and even potentially losing out on a play-off spot. The poor run has resulted in criticism from some sections of the crowd with the team booed off at half-time and full-time on Saturday.
To his credit, manager Micky Adams has accepted responsibility for the team’s poor run telling the press that “We’ll have to take a bit of stick and I will too. But I’m big enough to handle it and I want the players to be big enough as well.”
Now, CEO and co-owner Norman Smurthwaite has publicly backed the manager, coaching staff and players in a series of tweets sent out on Sunday night.
