Adams seeks early contract talks
According to the Sentinel newspaper, Micky Adams plans to have talks with key players ahead of the summer as he looks to tie Vale’s star players to long-term contracts.
Fifteen players are out of contract in the summer, but they do not include Ashley Vincent as he has actually signed a two-year deal.
Manager Adams told the newspaper: “The next process is to sit down and talk to the players we want to keep beyond this season,” said Adams.
“A lot of the players have two-year deals, so we don’t need to worry about them, but others haven’t.
“We’ve started with Tom, but there might be other players who will attract attention from other clubs.
“So over the next week or so, we’ll discuss their future as well.”
“I don’t want another summer like I had last year.
“A lot of players took the option of talking to other clubs and, because of the situation and the rules and regulations, we were waiting on several of them to commit to the club.
“It was a really frustrating time. At one stage, I thought I had lost a lot of them, but they decided to stay in the end.
“So this time, I want to be talking to players before the end of the season, so I can have a bit of a break.”
