Wildes: Vale planning for the future with new signings
Port Vale chairman Paul Wildes says that although recent arrivals Lee Hughes and Darren Purse are at the veteran stage of their career the club may now look to bring in some more players with potential to improve in the future.
Not all of the players who come in might be for this season. Some might be for the future…
Wildes told the newspaper: “We made no secret of the fact we would be active in January and we’ll bring more people in if we can.
“We’re adding to the squad, but it’s not just for this season. We’re looking two or three years down the line.
“It’s a long-term project to develop the club, and the playing staff is just part of that.
“Signing players of the calibre of Lee Hughes, along with our other acquisitions, is a statement of intent really.”
All the signings made by the club’s new owners have boasted considerable experience, but Wildes also hinted that the club may look to bring in some raw talent when he added: “Not all of the players who come in might be for this season. Some might be for the future.”
