Midfielder on trial with Valiants?
Former Shrewsbury Town midfielder Sean McAllister played and scored for Vale’s reserves in their 4-0 win over Wrexham on Wednesday.
The 25 year-old former Sheffield Wednesday player is a free agent after being released by the Shrews in the summer.
McAllister, who has made over 100 senior appearances, scoring five times, was on target with Vale reserves’ first goal on Wednesday afternoon.
Vale are currently short of central midfield options for the game against Wycombe with Sam Morsy suspended, Ryan Burge and captain Doug Loft injured and Darren Murphy short of match practice.
The lack of central midfield numbers means Adams may be forced to turn to rookie Kingsley James or move the likes of Richard Duffy or Louis Dodds into a central midfield role.
However, Adams indicated after the Oxford United win that he may seek Football League dispensation to add a further player to the ranks (especially after the sad retirement of Lewis Haldane depleted Vale’s squad still further) and should permission be granted, McAllister could be a prime contender to be snapped up in time for the Wycombe clash.
