Gareth Owen is recalled by Stockport County
The Valiants have been dealt a defensive headache after loanee Gareth Owen was recalled by Stockport County.
The news will come as a shock to Vale who were delighted to land the defender on loan despite interest from several higher-placed clubs.
With Owen out of favour at Stockport and out of contract in the summer, it was expected that Vale would tie-up a permanent deal with Vale in January.
The highly-rated Owen was widely touted to be signing a two and a half year deal and would have been a potential candidate to be the new club captain.
However, a disappointed Dean Glover told the official Port Vale website: “It is very frustrating to say the least. Gareth is just the type of player we need in order to improve the team.
“He adds some much needed experience, but unfortunately there is very little we can do about it when a situation like this occurs, but it is so frustrating.”||1||
