Lee Sinnott leaves Port Vale
Lee Sinnott leaves Port Vale: Manager Lee Sinnott has parted company with Port Vale after less than a year in charge.
Sinnott was appointed manager at Vale Park in November 2007 in succession to the departed Martin Foyle. However, the former Farsley Celtic boss failed to stop the Valiants from being relegated from League One. The side finished the season with just 38 points despite numerous player changes by the new manager.
The club also suffered FA Cup embarrassment when they lost to non-league Chasetown in a replayed second-round game.
In the summer, Sinnott released ten players as he looked to turn around his squad. He added new signings such as John McCombe, Anthony Griffith, Rob Taylor and Louis Dodds to the squad along with loan defender signing Lee Collins.
However, despite the new additions, Port Vale have since suffered a poor start to this season, losing three of their opening four home games, including a 4-1 defeat to Macclesfield Town on Saturday. In September Sinnott told the media that “we are looking to improve, without a shadow of a doubt” but that revival failed to come in time to rescue his career as the Valiants manager.
Sinnott’s assistant-manager Dean Glover is set to be placed in temporary charge.
