Who should partner Pope against Oxford?

With the Valiants mustering just one goal in their last four games, OVF wants to find out who you think should partner Tom Pope upfront?

There are five obvious options open to Micky Adams and here is each one explained:

Lee Hughes

Hughes certainly brings vast experience to the side but the jury will still be out on whether he combines well with Pope. In his last four starts, Hughes has netted once while Pope has failed to find the target.

Louis Dodds

The mercurial Dodds appears to be a good foil for Pope. In his last four starts for the club, Dodds has scored three goals himself while Pope has also scored two.

Ben Williamson

The big factor against Williamson would appear to be his match fitness as the forward has missed several games through illness recently. However, in his last four starts, Williamson has chipped in with two goals while Pope has been on target three times.

Calvin Andrew

The striker scored Vale’s last goal (in the game against Torquay) but is probably an outside bet to start against Oxford. In his last four starts, Andrew has managed one goal while Pope has also netted once.

No-one

The other option could be to play another man in midfield and allow Pope to plough a lone furrow upfront. This system didn’t hold Pope back earlier in the season with the tall forward plundering goals aplenty mostly courtesy of the service from the wings.
