Classic Rock magazine published its list of the top 100 geetar solos...so working my way thru them starting at no 100. I've got to 85 at this point. Some 'interesting' choices.

Got thru them all..Stairway at No. 1? Must admit out of that 100 I'd go for Freebird.

My fave though isn't in the 100...the first one from "Number of the Beast" by Maiden

    SRV was a genius.

A mate of mine lent me a video of him live..just him on guitar and singing plus bassist and drummer and it was amazing..it was like 3 guitars playing at once but also at times so tender and emotional.

    Ah..that sort of duo

Actually I remember years ago a band called Sky (serious musicians) doing a single based on it..it is awesome as were Sky

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_(band)

n 1980, Sky recorded and released their second album, Sky 2 - a double album that built upon its predecessor's success (becoming the tenth highest selling album in Britain that year). The album included Monkman's side-long rock suite "FIFO" (a piece inspired by computer processing, stands for "First In, First Out") and four classical pieces including three established chamber music pieces (played entirely straight) and the band's souped-up electric treatment of Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor". The latter was released as a single (under the name "Toccata") and reached number 5 in the national pop charts, giving the band the opportunity of performing on Top Of The Pops.

Got Nick Cave and Primal Scream new albums for my birthday last week.

Both really good! First foray into Nick Cave. Will definitely be getting more of his stuff.
