Rumour: Port Vale one of four contenders to land non-league striker
Port Vale are among four contenders to land Stockport County striker Jason Oswell reports claim after Chester dropped out of contention.
A report in the Chester Chronicle says that their bid to land the Chester-based striker on a part-time basis have been dashed as the striker “made it pretty clear” he wanted to play full-time football.
Chester manager Anthony Johnson told the newspaper: “We met with Jason for a chat last week, very informal, just to see what he is doing as he is a free agent. No money was spoken about but he made it pretty clear he wanted full time football.
“The stumbling block is that he has a decent career at the Countess in Chester but he does want to give it a go and he does believe in his ability, and I believe in his ability. It is looking like he will probably go down that route if I’m honest.”
If that is true the newspaper claims that Port Vale, Morecambe, Wrexham and Hartlepool United are contenders to sign the forward.
