Aspin: don’t rely on other teams, up to us to secure safety
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin says the Valiants should not be relying on other teams failing in order to secure their own safety.
A win against Mansfield Town would enable the Valiants to acquire mathematical safety and the Vale manager commented: “Saturday was a really good day in terms of the result – and other results went for us which is always a help as well. But I don’t really want to discuss other teams and what they have to do, it is up to us now.
If we take care of our own results then we can finish reasonably safe and that is what we have to look to do…
“We have three games to finish with. If we take care of our own results then we can finish reasonably safe and that is what we have to look to do.
“If you just expect other teams to win their games, i think that is the best way to look at it. We have to concentrate on ourselves, regardless of what other teams are doing.”
“I just think it doesn’t do anybody any good to finish the season poorly. We need to try to get a couple of good results and positive performances. We all know it has been a disappointing season but hopefully we can have a couple of good performances to finish.”
