Smurthwaite: I will not discuss the asking price for the club
In answer to a direct question from OVF editor Rob Fielding, Norman Smurthwaite says he will not discuss what price he wants for the football club.
Smurthwaite replied to Fielding’s question by commenting “I will not discuss the price” but he did claim that “a buyer is waiting now.”
However, he said he was determined to sell to the right group and while interested party Synectics Systems have the “right infrastructure in place” would be the “natural fit” and would “benefit from the combined land” he says the question has to be not whether a purchaser has the money to buy the club but “the money to finance the club” in the following years.
The owner did say he could “understand the fans’ frustration” but he says he is personally determined to “get the club back into League One.”
He added that “I believe we have the right football management structure and next season will be the year we deliver it.
“I want Neil Aspin to succeed. I like him and I have seen his plans for summer recruitment which excite me.”
