Forrester hits thirteen minute hat-trick for reserves to push first-team claim
Striker Anton Forrester pushed for a starting place in the first-team with a thirteen minute hat-trick in the Vale reserves’ 6-0 thrashing of Mansfield.
The Valiants included new defensive signings Callum Howe and Kyle Howkins while Cristian Montano was moved to left-back.
Forrester gave Vale the lead on the half-hour mark with a great finish, he added another good finish seven minutes later and completed a thirteen minute hat-trick with a goal just before the break.
The forward was withdrawn at the interval but Vale’s scoring continued after the break as defender Callum Howe found the net on 48 minutes and Cristian Montano made it 5-0 on the hour mark.
To cap a fine Vale performance Dior Angus netted his first Vale goal just before the final whistle to make the final score 6-0 to Vale.
