Vale loanee Ben Whitfield linked with other clubs
Media reports have suggested that other clubs are interested in signing forward Ben Whitfield on loan.
Bournemouth youngster Whitfield has been a huge success since signing on a half-season loan move early in the season.
They have been out to see him a few times and I think they have been more than satisfied with what we have contributed to his development, it has worked for everyone…
Whitfield has made 22 appearances and scored three goals – a tally that would have been more but for injury.
Vale manager Neil Aspin has made it clear that he would like to extend Whitfield’s deal but media reports have linked League Two rivals Lincoln City with an interest in the player.
On Tuesday Vale CEO Colin Garlick told the Sentinel newspaper that he felt Vale had a strong case for keeping the player commenting: “We have certainly enjoyed having him here and he has enjoyed being here.
“It fits and has been developing his career because he has been playing games. So, I am sure his parent club have been more than happy with that.
