Rumour: Vale make permanent bid for Ben Whitfield
Reports in the Bournemouth media claim that Port Vale and Lincoln City have made bids for forward Ben Whitfield.
Whitfield has been a huge success at the Valiants and obtaining the 21 year-old on a permanent basis would be heralded as a coup. Likewise, Vale would be hugely disappointed if the player opted to join a rival club.
Whitfield has been one of the players of the season this campaign and manager Neil Aspin has expressed a desire to keep the player.
At the start of the month, Whitfield said his future would become clear within a few days.
Any move for the youngster is likely to involve a fee and a sell-on percentage.
