Neil Aspin says he expects to lose Gavin Gunning over “money”
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin says he is “disappointed” but that he expects to lose defender Gavin Gunning.
Gunning is out of contract and was widely expected to sign a new deal with the club.
At the root of every transfer it invariably come down to money…
Aspin told the media: “I expect to lose Gavin Gunning.
“I am disappointed with that because, since I have been here, he has done well for me. He has played well and I would have been more than happy to keep him.
“At the root of every transfer it invariably come down to money.”
Vale can rightly feel aggrieved after Gunning initially joined on trial and forced his way into first-team contention. It could be argued that the Vale has revived his career.
However, the defender had complained recently that he was one of the club’s lowest-paid players.
