Neil Aspin opts against deals for two Port Vale trialists
Manager Neil Aspin has confirmed he will not be offering contracts to two trialists from the North East.
One of the players was named as 22 year-old Whitley Bay midfielder Alex Kempster but the other player has not been named.
They need to go back and develop further. It hasn’t done them any harm by coming down this week but I can’t be taking them at the moment…
Aspin told the Sentinel newspaper: “We have had two lads from the North East this week just to have a look at them. They have both acquitted themselves well but I couldn’t sign them and put them straight into the first team so there is no point in spoiling their careers at the moment.
“I have spoken to both lads today. They need to go back and develop further. It hasn’t done them any harm by coming down this week but I can’t be taking them at the moment.
“Once you have seen a player then you have an idea of what he is like. But I think both lads need to play. They are both playing well down the pyramid at the moment, they need to be playing at a higher level consistently before they could probably make the step up to league football.”
