Lawrie Wilson departs Port Vale and signs for Ebbsfleet
Lawrie Wilson departs Port Vale: Port Vale have announced that veteran defender Lawrie Wilson has left Vale Park with National League side Ebbsfleet signing the veteran.
Wilson was a summer signing by former Port Vale manager Michael Brown but despite signing a two-year deal he has been unable to secure a regular starting place in the team.
He made just eight senior appearances after losing his place to first Joe Davis then youngster James Gibbons. Following the replacement of Brown by Neil Aspin, his time at the club appeared to be numbered and it is no surprise to see the veteran leave the club in search of more regular first-team football.
An Port Vale statement posted on the club’s official website said:
Lawrie Wilson has mutually terminated his contract with Port Vale Football Club, with immediate effect.
We wish to thank Lawrie for being part of our team during the past six months and wish him all the best for the future.
Ebbsfleet announced via their own official statement:
Ebbsfleet United are pleased to confirm the signing of Lawrie Wilson from Port Vale.
