Bournemouth winger Ben Whitfield has extended his loan spell at Vale Park, the club has announced.

The loanee has been one of the stars of the season so far and the news will delight Vale fans.

A club statement reads:

The Club are delighted to announce the extension of Ben Whitfield’s loan deal.

Whitfield’s initial loan deal ran out at the beginning of 2018, and after negotiations, both Clubs have come to an agreement to extend the midfielder’s stay in Burslem until the end of the season.

Whitfield signed for Port Vale at the beginning of August and since then has become a firm favourite amongst the Valiant faithful.

His forward play and attacking threat has made him sought after in League’s One and Two and a vital part of Neil Aspin’s squad as Vale look to build on their impressive performances throughout December, which saw them move away from the relegation zone.

Since arriving at Vale in August, Whitfield has gone on to score thee goals for the Club and played pivotal roles in a number of impressive Vale performances.

His goal against Cheltenham Town went on to be a nomination for Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month, only to be pipped at the last by Coventry City’s Jordan Shipley.

Whitfield will be available for tomorrow’s trip to Forest Green Rovers and will be looking to add to his Port Vale goal tally as Vale will be looking to earn their first three points of 2018.
