Aspin: Anderson recall came out of the blue, it will be difficult to replace him
A clearly disappointed Port Vale manager Neil Aspin says it will be a difficult task to replace loanee Tom Anderson.
Anderson has been a regular in the backline until he was surprisingly recalled by parent club Burnley this week.
It is going to be difficult but we have to bring in some defenders over the next couple of days…
Aspin told the media: “It is bad news. It has come out of the blue because, since the player has been here, he has played in a lot of games so has had the game time which a club hopes they will get when they loan them out.
“I spoke to Tom last week and he was happy here so it is disappointing that he has been recalled.
“Even before Tom went back, I must have made inquiries for between 20 and 30 centre halves and we still haven’t really been able to bring one in.
“So now we need to probably bring in two, in two days. So, it is going to be difficult but we have to bring in some defenders over the next couple of days.”
