Neil Aspin happy with Rob Lainton return but backs Ryan Boot
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin says young goalkeeper is not to blame for Vale’s recent poor form.
Vale have played nine goalkeepers in the last twelve months but Boot has recently established himself as first-choice in the side.
So, without saying that he is the number one goalkeeper, he has certainly put himself into a much better and stronger position than he was before I came into the club…
The Vale manager told the media: “He has been making progress and now it is a continuing to build up his muscles and then when he gets his chance, he has to take it. But at the moment he is going to have to wait for that chance
“I think we have to consider him when if I feel that I need to make a change in the goalkeeping department. But at the moment the reason why we have not won games recently is not down to Ryan Boot. He deserves to keep playing in the team.
