Neil Aspin hails goalkeeper Ryan Boot
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin has pariased goalkeeper Ryan Boot after his saves helped earn Vale an away victory at Carlisle.
The Valiants have tried out numerous goalkeepers in 2017 but Boot has been first-choice since November making eleven appearances.
Ryan has done very well since he came into the team…
The youngster has received criticism at times as he continues to come to grips with League Two football but he has impressed enough to keep former number one Rob Lainton on the bench.
Aspin has seen enough potential in Boot to feel his faith in the keeper was justified. After the Carlisle match he told the media: “Ryan has done very well since he came into the team. He has had very little chance with the goals we have conceded, he has not had to pull off saves left, right and centre since he has been in the team. That’s a good thing.
“But here he was needed and he did really well. That’s not just his saves, I thought his handling was good as well and he gave a first-class display. It is a big game when you come to Carlisle, he has coped with it really well and he contributed to the win.”
