Neil Aspin confident that Vale players have right attitude
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin has praised his players’ professionalism ahead of a crucial festive fixture list.
Since taking charge of the club in early October, Aspin has begun a revival. Having taken over when the club were bottom of the league, the Vale legend has taken the club to 18th and although there is four points separating them from bottom three clubs, Barnet, Chesterfield and Forest Green; there is also only five points separating them from 13th placed Cambridge United.
I’ve got no doubts about the players’ mentality and the fact that their attitude has been good since I’ve taken over
With three wins in their last five Aspin will hope to continue the club’s resurgence.
However, Vale’s next three fixtures won’t be easy as they look to take points away at Colchester next. Sitting 8th in the league the Essex club are in good form and will be difficult to break down but Aspin is confident his players can get a result, saying; “It will be a difficult game and they will test us, but we’ve got to go into it looking for a positive outcome… I’ve got no doubts about the players’ mentality and the fact that their attitude has been good since I’ve taken over.”
From there it doesn’t get any easier for Vale as they close out 2017 with home games against seventh place Coventry and league leaders Luton. It’s clear Aspin still has a tough job ahead of him, but a positive haul of points in the festive period will undoubtedly set up the club for what could prove to be a crucial January transfer window.
